Help in the Paper Crane Mission

After getting a number of requests and suggestions in the first couple weeks, I tried to think of a good way to get people involved in the crane project. After volleying some ideas around, and then finally finding the time to put it in the works, I finally have written up a tab devoted to how you wonderful followers can help out! Check out this link: How To Help & Make Your Own Cranes or find the similarly titled tab on my main page.

This will allow you lovely bunch to make your own cranes and place them in your own respective areas. And, of course, let me know about it! I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

I am always open to suggestions about my project and appreciate that a number of you have been interested in getting involved. I'm going to continue to look for ways to get you guys involved in the project as much as possible. Hope you are all having a wonderful week! And happy folding!

10. Celebration
Definition:
(n) a joyful occasion to mark a special event

Time Placed: 8/3/10 10:40a.m.

This one was sitting at the base of the tree. I doubled back to this room a bit later and saw it was no longer there. Here's to hoping the cleaning crew didn't get it!

I thought this crane was appropriately placed in the 1hour+ long indoor maze. I think this point was near the end. My apologies for the terrible photo quality but pictures weren't aloud in there (Oops!) So I had to be as stealthy as possible. This was the best of the couple I tried to take. (I took none of the actual maze though, just to be clear.) I only made it out with the help of a lovely family. I might've not been so optimistic otherwise!

8. Charming

8. Charming
Definition:
(adj) pleasing or delightful
Location Placed: The Sailors' Memorial Clock, Montreal, Canada
Date Placed: 8/2/10 3:18p.m.

The ledge was a bit dirty for the crane, but I was hopeful that people coming up (or going down) the stairs would find him.

7. Cheerful

7. Cheerful
Definition:
(adj) having or showing good spirits
Location Placed: Olympic Stadium Pool Area, Montreal, Canada
Date Placed: 8/2/10 12:30p.m.

Some of the location pictures are a bit like a search and find mission. This crane is sitting (safely) above the water fountain. A pool area is probably not the best place for a crane (oops!), so I think I will (hopefully) not place any more near them in the future.

6. Fair

6. Fair
Definition:
(adj) reasonable, honest
Location Placed: Japanese Garden, Jardin Botanique, Montreal, Canada
Date Placed: 8/2/10 9:55a.m.

I've realized that writing on some of the cranes makes it pretty impossible to read. I think for the next time I make cranes on dark paper, I will likely just print out the word instead of writing it on. You live & you learn. My apologies to the person who received this crane if they couldn't read it!

1. Happy

1. Happy
Definition: (adj) Glad, pleased; characterized by well-being and contentment
Location: Wall Township Library, Wall, New Jersey

Date Placed: 7/31/10, 12:30pm

I chose the Wall Library for my first release because, like the crane word, it makes me happy. Hopefully someone picks up this crane before it gets taken away by a cleaning crew! (That's one of my fears of this project, that all the cranes will be throw away. But it is what it is.)
