After you’ve gotten the crane made, choose a positive word. Maybe it’s a special word to you, or maybe it’s just one you’d like to leave. Choose any word, even if it's a word I've already done. No worries! Then put the link to my website Http://1000cranemission.com on it. Do not put a number on it. Take a picture of it. And then come the fun part.
There are a couple things to keep in mind when it comes to placing a crane.
- ) Make sure the weather is good. Unless your crane is made from waterproof materials, try not to place one when rain is imminent. Additionally, the windier it is, the more likely the crane will be to fly off on its own (usually into the nearest body of water.)
- ) Make sure to place it in a location where you don’t know who would be receiving it. So for the purpose of this project, don’t leave it with a tip or in a mailbox. While those are certainly lovely, the crane mission is to leave a crane for a random person to pick up. Giving anyone a fair shot at finding one adds to the excitement.
- ) Try to place it in a public area, but take care to not be too blatant about it. Kids and very curious people may take it for the sole reason that you’ve photographed it.
Afterward, send me an email at CraneFriends@gmail.com with your pictures and a story about the crane (why you choose that word, location or paper), the location where it was left, as well as any links to your own blog. (If you give me the address or something I can easily punch into google maps, I will put a point on a new map for friend made cranes.)
You can find all of these cranes at . Once a week (probably on the weekend), I'll post an entry with all of the placements on my main blog. But of course, people can always check the link as more cranes will be updated as I get a hold of them.
I’m very excited to see what you all come up with! And I hope you guys are all very excited to participate!
