Definition: (v) greet someone arriving in a polite, friendly, or glad way
Location Placed: Dorbrook Park, Colts Neck, New Jersey
Date Placed: 8/28/15 at 4:45 pm

Despite having lived so close, I had not visited Dorbrook Park to my recollection. It is a local county park with a lot of fun things to do. They hold a number of education programs for adults and children as well as a splash park, fields, and trails. I picked up one of the county guidebooks to see if there are any fun things I want to participate in for the fall!

Definition: (n) an attempt to win a contest or championship
Location Placed: Holmes-Hendrickson House, Holmdel, New Jersey
Date Placed: 8/28/15 at 3:31pm

The next stop was the Holmes-Hendrickson House which was a really interesting combination of English and Dutch style architecture. For being such an unassuming house from the street, it had a LOT of bedrooms and housed 13 people + several slaves back in its heyday. My tour guide was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable on the subject of the house. There were also a lot of really neat period pieces in the house, including the looking glass, of which I was not familiar.

Definition: (adj) extremely impressive
Location Placed: Marlpit Hall, Middletown, New Jersey
Date Placed: 8/28/15 at 2:36pm

In rare good fortune, I was able to enjoy a free Friday afternoon and see a couple historic houses in my county. I had previous visited one a few years back and had been meaning to get to others a bit further away. Marlpit Hall was home to a British family who sided with the loyalists. It was very interesting to hear about their homestead as well as how they lived back when America was becoming a country of its own. The home is very well preserved and had some really neat period pieces. I am looking forward to seeing the last county home on my list! Then onto the smaller town owned ones.

668. Dedicated
Definition: (adj) devoted to a task or purpose
Location Placed: Lonesome Lake Hut, Franconia, New Hampshire
Date Placed: 8/13/15 at 2:14pm

After a rather exhausting hike, I must've forgotten that I hadn't taken a before picture! We did this hike which is a portion of the Appalachian Trail, which I've been wanting to hike for a long while. (A portion of it, not the whole thing. I'm only good at hiking very short distance and camping for 2 nights max. It's important to know your limits.) So I was very excited to do a short afternoon hike that included a portion of it. We stopped at the Lonesome Lake Hut on the trail to await the passing of a rain shower. The folks who staff the hut were making rather delicious looking loaves of bread and one of the members of my group said the scones were super. It was an absolutely gorgeous hike that I would recommend doing if you're in the area.

And although I wasn't able to leave a crane there, I also recommend hiking up to the top of Mount Osceola if you're looking for some fabulous views from up high!

667. Promising

667. Promising
Definition: (adj) showing signs of future success
Location Placed: Flume Gorge, Lincoln, New Hampshire
Date Placed: 8/13/15 at 10:40am

One of the more beautiful hikes we went on was at the Flume Gorge, which was carved thousands of years ago by glaciers and water. The waterfalls and sheer rock faces were impressive. It was a very lovely and scenic hike. Having not hiked for a while prior, it was nice to get my hiking legs back. New Hampshire certainly has a lot of pretty sites and I only managed to see a small portion of them.

666. Smashing

666. Smashing
Definition: (adj) excellent, wonderful
Location Placed: Indian Head Resort, Lincoln, New Hampshire
Date Placed: 8/13/15 at 10:29am

On our way out to do some hiking, we stopped at the Indian Head Resort to look at their souvenirs. This resort looks up to a rock formation in one of the surrounding peaks that look a bit like the head of a Native American. Apparently it is one of many resorts in the area as this is a pretty solid destination during ski season as well.

665. Responsible

665. Responsible
Definition: (adj) capable of being trusted
Location Placed: Woodstock Inn Station and Brewery, North Woodstock, New Hampshire
Date Placed: 8/12/15 at 12:53pm

On our first day in New Hampshire, we did an easy nature walk and a tasting at the Woodstock Inn Station and Brewery. The brewmaster who gave the "tour", Tony, was extremely knowledgeable about their brews as well as the process of making beer. As a novice of beer related things, I really appreciated how easy it was to understand the processes. It didn't hurt that the tasting came with the most adorable mini "pint" glasses and an actual take home glass from the brewery itself!

664. Chuckle

664. Chuckle
Definition: (v) laugh quietly or inwardly
Location Placed: Darien Rest Stop, Darien, Connecticut
Date Placed: 8/11/15 at 9:16pm

We stopped at this rest stop on the way up to a cabin in New Hampshire. I had never been to New Hampshire before so it was very exciting. I knew I was in New England in general when the local McDonald's had lobster rolls, which I heard were actually not too terrible for being a seafood item at a fast food place! But we made a pit stop here on our way up through all sorts of dark and twisty roads, including several very interesting detours. We finally made it around 2am and had a nice, solid sleep.

Definition: (adj) having been in existence for a long time and therefore recognized and generally accepted
Location Placed: Trenton Thunder Baseball Stadium, Trenton, New Jersey
Date Placed: 7/29/15 at 1:20pm

This was the first time I had been to the Trenton Thunder baseball stadium in probably over a decade. It looks the same as I remember it. Definitely some different food options and merchandise, but it was the same Trenton Thunder and the same Boomer (the bird mascot). It was definitely a nice added bonus that the Thunder won! Hopefully it won't be another decade before I catch another game.
