(adj) causing lighthearted laughter and amusement
Location Placed: St. John the Divine Church, New York City, New York

I know I just went on about how lovely churches are, but this one might take the cake. Not only was it ginormous (we're talking 4th largest church in the WORLD), it also had a number of art exhibits spread out through the different rooms and hallways. So many lovely paintings and collections. A few oddballs in the mix (I'm looking at you antler display!) but really cool. I missed it, but during the Christmas season, they have a tree decorated with paper cranes! Next year I'll definitely have to get up there. The pictures I saw were very cool. If any of you manage to stop by during the holidays, definitely send me a photo!

I'm a sucker for lovely architectures in churches. There's something about the stained glass windows and the arches. The high ceilings and the alters. The statues and the pews. It's all amazing. I'm not really religious but I very much so appreciate beautiful buildings. Do you have any buildings you just love? What do you love about them?

Definition:
(v) help or encourage to increase or improve
Location Placed: Grant's Tomb National Monument, New York City, New York

As I learned while I was there, Grant's Tomb is the largest mausoleum in North America. I had never heard of it before or knew it was in New York City. But my friend brought me around and I was very glad she did. It was an amazing looking building that looked like it was straight out of our capital with how grand it looked. I've not seen any of the other burial areas of former president's, so it was pretty surreal. Definitely worth a pop over if you happen to find those sorts of things fascinating.

The best way to ring in a Sunday with a friend is brunch. And where better to have brunch? A California Cinnamon Bun was had to channel a little warmth and deliciousness to a February afternoon. Definitely a great way to enjoy a relaxing weekend. And I totally recommend that bun if you're in the area.

Definition:
(adj) deserving effort, attention, or respect
Location Placed: Starbucks, New York City, New York

Completely unrelated to the location or the word on the crane: I've been loving how mild this winter has been. *Knock on wood* I don't think we've gotten more than an inch of snow all winter, and I am perfectly fine with that. Fall is by far my favorite season, but spring and summer are not too distant seconds. But winter is my foe. I don't think I'm built for the cold weather. I would happily retire and become a snowbird (i.e. someone that lives up in the Northeast during the warmer months and then head south during the winter.) Thankfully the weather has been lovely and seems to continue to be for the foreseeable future.

368. Jewel

368. Jewel
Definition:
(n) a very pleasing or valued thing or person
Location Placed: New York Library at Lincoln Center, New York City, New York
Date Placed: 2/18/12 at 4:35pm

Of course it would be wrong of me to see a library without going in. This one had some interesting photographs in the lobby of yesteryear. I didn't read too in depth but certainly enjoyed browsing at the photos before I took a quick walk around the library. I like when libraries have interesting pieces of art. Gives them a little bit of individuality.

Definition:
(adj) a characteristic that helps distinguish one thing from others
Location Placed: Avery Fischer Hall, New York City, New York

I found out that I still had Christmas paper cranes that I wasn't able to place closer to the holidays. Better late than never! Time seems to keep speeding by. I find it hard to believe we're just a stone's throw away from March already! I feel like I was just celebrating the new year last week and enjoying summer the week before. Adulthood is just crazy like that, I suppose!

I had a bit of time to kill between when the show ended and when I was able to meet back up with my friend, so I decided to explore the Lincoln Center area. I had only been there once for an Opera at the Metropolitan Opera House, which is gorgeous in case you were wondering. But it was sort of dark out so I couldn't get to check the area out. So I nosed in a bunch of different buildings around.

Definition:
(adj) having the ability to find clever ways to overcome difficulties
Location Placed: The Julliard School, New York City, New York
Date Placed: 2/18/12 at 4:21pm

Holiday breaks from school never seem long enough. But I was able to steal away for a weekend to visit my friend up in New York City. Saw a lovely play going on at Julliard this weekend. Having never been up there before, I wasn't sure what to expect. But it was pretty packed and I was able to catch up a little with another friend and her boyfriend who were also seeing the show. I was impressed by the acting students. Not to mention it was super easy to get there via the subway from Penn Station!
