As I am not much a coffee person, I love going in to Rook Coffee for their iced teas. The only downfall is that they only have them in the summer. Unfortunately the day I went was no longer a day they were selling them. Drat! I'll have to wait again until next year.

Thankfully no one was in the post office when I got there. Sometimes I worry that I will be seen leaving a crane, and then in turn worry that I look suspicious while leaving a crane. I imagine myself looking like a furtive cartoon character, trench coat, sunglasses, and all. Nevermind the fact that I don't even own a trench coat, and in over 750 placements, I've only been "caught" once. Perhaps I'll finally get in the groove by the time I hit my 1000th crane placement...

Are you ever struck, when looking at greeting cards, by just the sheer number of them out there? How we end up having to pick up so many just to get the perfect one for that special someone, that beloved family member, that cherished friend? Each and every one of those cards are different and were printed because someone thought they were cute, or funny, or conveyed the right type of message. But, of course, when we're going through them, we come across ones and wonder, "Who would ever think of buying this?" That's the beauty of it though. We're all so different and like different things. There's a greeting card out there for everyone.

It's crazy how life sometimes happens and then a lot of time passes before you manage to get back to writing the blogs you kept putting off. Eek! But I am back now to catch up on a dozen or so cranes that I am behind. Thanks for sticking with me!

I had a day off to do some poking around, and opted to do so in an area I've never been. And if you know anything about me by now, it's that I can't avoid a good library. The Middletown Library was quite a bit larger than I expected. I would've loved to do a lot more exploring but it would've been too much of a temptation to go around looking at books I wouldn't be able to select since it wasn't my home library. Just know I certainly wanted to!

669. Stupendous

669. Stupendous
Definition: (adj) extremely impressive
Location Placed: Marlpit Hall, Middletown, New Jersey
Date Placed: 8/28/15 at 2:36pm

In rare good fortune, I was able to enjoy a free Friday afternoon and see a couple historic houses in my county. I had previous visited one a few years back and had been meaning to get to others a bit further away. Marlpit Hall was home to a British family who sided with the loyalists. It was very interesting to hear about their homestead as well as how they lived back when America was becoming a country of its own. The home is very well preserved and had some really neat period pieces. I am looking forward to seeing the last county home on my list! Then onto the smaller town owned ones.

448. Admirable
Definition: (adj) deserving respect or approval
Location Placed: Middletown Rest Area, Middletown, Connecticut

After driving several hours in one day, I feel pretty beat. I don't know if I'd be cut out for a long road trip, especially one where I'm driving all on my own. I certainly admire truck drivers who spend hours driving over these roads without fail. I certainly don't think I could do it and all I've done is a few measly hours! I never really gave much thought to where a lot of the goods I consume come from, via truck drivers. Certainly makes life easier for the rest of us! So thank a truck driver next time you see one.

428. Airy

428. Airy
Definition: (adj) delicate, as if filled with or made of air
Location Placed: Tatum Park, Middletown, New Jersey
Date Placed: 6/18/12 at 11:57am

There is just something about the word airy that I love. I totally associate it with summer. I don't even know exactly what it is about summer that makes me think airy (as often the humidity and heat makes the atmosphere quite dense.) I guess it's just the lightness I feel toward summer and the ability to get out/about, lapping up the longer days and warmth. Although my favorite season is autumn, summer definitely has some wonderful charms.

427. Fortunate

427. Fortunate
Definition: (adj) lucky, favorable, auspicious
Location Placed: Deep Cut Gardens, Middletown, New Jersey
Date Placed: 6/18/12 at 11:20am

I was most excited to come to Deep Cut Gardens today. I had never been but my love of gardens made this a clear choice. I didn't know this before I went, but the property had been owned by an infamous mobster. The original house on the property burned down, although I'm not sure if the circumstances were shady or not. There were a number of little gardens with lots of pretty flowers. My friend and I agreed that the gazebo would've been a good spot for a bit of afternoon tea.

426. Worthwhile

426. Worthwhile
Definition: (adj) worth the time, money, or effort spent
Location Placed: Poricy Park, Middletown, New Jersey
Date Placed: 6/18/12 at 10:47am

It was a crisp day off so a friend and I decided to hit up several parks in the area that we hadn't been to. Poricy Park was first on the list. It seems like it would be a lovely place to do a bit of trail walking. We had hoped to do a bit of exploring but it appears that the farmhouse was only open for one hour the last Sunday of the month so we just opted to enjoy the nature center and head to our next destination.
