A Crane Finder!

I was so pleased to come back from my vacation in Washington, DC on Sunday night to find the following e-mail:

October 24, 2010 8:12pm

A Lieutenant Stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington (State)
"I recently returned from a deployment to Iraq, and am visiting my parents in Virginia for the first time in a year. I went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History with my father yesterday, and as I was admiring the expo on ancient humans, I noticed one of your cranes right on the table next to me. Number 103, savor reminds me to savor the time that I have with my family right now. I will hold onto this crane and place it somewhere in Tacoma, WA, when I return to Fort Lewis next week! Thanks for such an interesting and thought provoking idea."

She was the first person to actually get back to me about finding a crane! And what a wonderful person too. I think we can all relate to savoring our time with the people we care about most. I'll be sure to post the picture of the crane as she said she'd send a picture of it to me upon releasing it when she gets back to Washington. Very exciting!

  3. I am so excited to read this! I often think of your cranes and who might find them. I do Operation Beautiful (http://operationbeautiful.com) sometimes, and I ALWAYS hope someone finds the notes.

  16. Hi Sandy,

I love your idea and execution! One thing, I might suggest "TAKE ME" on your paper with the site. I wonder if I would feel certain to take one if I happend upon it, I think I would like permission. Just a thought...
