Distilleries are really neat places to visit. Not only because you get to learn a bit of history behind the brand, but you get to learn a bit about the process that goes into making a certain type of alcohol. It's been a while since I've been to a brewery/distillery, so it was really neat to get so much information on the background of Bacardi. We got to tour a staged location, watched a video about the family, smell tested a bunch of different subsets of Bacardi Rum, watched a live cocktail demonstration, and got to taste a couple samples. It's definitely one of those must do once sort of things when visiting San Juan. I'm excited to go through all my pictures again!

Before leaving the island to go back to the boat, we did a little bit of shopping. I figured a good place for a crane placement would be by the information center. Thankfully it was quite empty as most of the other people from the ship happened to have already made their way back, and ours was the only ship there that late. Sint Maarten was definitely good to us and I look forward to visiting again.

I had a bit of an issue with remembering to take cranes out of one bag to put in another, so excuse the non-numerical placement of cranes while on the cruise.

Our second island stop was Sint Maarten. We had not planned any excursions for the island so we headed to one of the tourist information centers and picked up information on a snorkel tour out of Blue Bubble Dive Shop. It was absolutely wonderful. We had an awesome time snorkeling in one area and then headed out to the Airplane Beach, which is home to the shortest runway that can accommodate the large 747 jets. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) none of them landed while we were there, but we did get to experience one taking off. I think this snorkel outing was the best of the trip due in part to our really knowledgeable guides. If I ever make it back to Sint Maarten for more than 8 hours on a tour, I definitely plan on going back to them for more snorkeling!

Had I been a bit better in planning, I would've made sure the word I left here was appropriate. It would've made for a bit of fun as the show I was going to see was titled Appropriate. Definitely a very engaging show and I enjoyed how it played out. It's about a dysfunctional family that comes together at the old southern homestead when the patriarch passes away. If you happen to be in the City and in the mood for a solid show, I would definitely recommend checking it out!

I had seen the "You Were Here" mugs when I was in San Fransisco over the summer and really liked them. Ever since, if I am somewhere new, I try to see what design they have for that location. I wasn't overjoyed with any of the ones in Florida but knew New York City would definitely have a good one. And it did not disappoint! The skyline on the mug is really awesome, and I look forward to putting it on a shelf once I have a shelf to put it on. Here's to hoping they keep them around for a while so I can collect some neat other ones!

As it sometimes happens, I went into the FedEx place wondering if I would be "made." It all stems back from the time I placed a crane in a UPS Store and the emailed me a picture of myself placing the crane. I know these postage stores happen to have a good amount of cameras, so I always feel far more conspicuous than normal. Thankfully I was in and out quite quickly and don't think I was spotted. But even if I was, it wouldn't stop me from placing my paper cranes!

I'm a sucker for a good pastry. So when I passed by Maison Kayser, I decided it would be a good idea to pick up a chocolate croissant to tide me over until it was dinner time. Although not the best chocolate croissant I've ever had, it did the trick and tasted quite yummy. It's hard to get a good croissant around where I live so I definitely make it my treat for when I visit the City.

I attempted to visit the main New York Public Library branch to see the Children's Literature exhibit, which I heard was awesome. However I must've checked the times for the wrong library as this branch didn't open until 1 in the afternoon on Sundays. It was too cold to wait outside for 45 minutes, so I decided to do some additional crane placing before heading back to see the show.

I was looking for a few little things to do and see that I hadn't done before in the City. I found the Kinokuniya Bookstore, which conveniently enough has a wonderful stationary section! I was very excited to go as I always am looking for some new paper to make my paper cranes with. And boy did I ever! I ended up picking up a couple packs of paper. I definitely won't need any more paper for the rest of my project. I just can't resist! I would definitely recommend checking them out if you're in the market for origami paper or a solid Asian book selection.

I was headed up to the city to see a friends off-Broadway show and for a little catch up time. I wanted to make sure I was a bit early as I had never been to the location before and hadn't taken the bus up from where I live. It was definitely quite easy and not all that long a trip. Definitely cheaper than parking for the day since I went on my own. Probably would be cheaper to drive up and park if it was a few people. But the bus was definitely a convenient way to get up there and I would definitely do it again next time I am taking a solo trip to the City.
