Sadly, all good things must come to and end. No vacation can last forever. But California has definitely treated me well. After leaving 5 years between now and the last time I was in The Golden State, I think I'll need to come back again in the not too distant future. So long for now California, I will certainly return.

I saw the cutest little mug in this Starbucks now that I am having non-buyers remorse over not getting! That mug with the Golden Gate Bridge is absolutely adorable, and I didn't even really take notice of it until I looked at the picture later that day. I think I will have to find a way to score that mug as I do appreciate lovely vessels for tea on cold mornings.

After Boudin, we decided to head to Pier 39 to see all the Sea Lions. By the time we got there, there were about 2 dozen sea lions of varying sizes lounging around. Some of them must've wanted to hang out in the EXACT same spot as another due to the fighting and pushing. It was all very entertaining. It was also lovely to have a nose around some of the shops. Definitely a relaxing afternoon adventure.

Thankfully a short walk from our hotel was Boudin with its delicious baked goods and bread. I certainly had my fill of items (and would particularly recommend the apple bars and chocolate croissants. No regrets!) They had a lovely little museum and tours (although I wasn't able to participate in them). They have some awesome breads on a carousel around the store area and some neat little cooking accessories. Definitely worth a stop, or in our case 3, for some good eats! Bravo Boudin!

This was one of the nicest visitor's centers that I've been in. For free, it had a number of maritime exhibits and lots of useful information about the area. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a bit more background about San Francisco. I think I would've been able to spend hours just wandering around the exhibits. But when you've only got a day in a city, you have to hoof it and see it for yourself.

We took a little walk amongst the San Francisco National Maritime Park to see all the seaworthy vessels they had. They can some cute little dingy type boats and a few more impressive sailing ships. Although we didn't go into any of them, they looked pretty slick from the dock. Given a bit more time, I would've liked to poke around them and some of the larger war time ships. But that just means we'll have to find ourselves in San Francisco again!

It's hard to be staying a few blocks from Ghirardelli Square without making a trip to the store. I promised myself I wouldn't buy something unless I had never seen it before at home. (When luggage space is tight, no sense in bringing something back that you can buy yourself.) Of course I ended up finding a delicious chocolate mint bar that found its way  into my life. There are worse things than enjoying a bar of chocolate now and again.

Upon arriving in San Francisco, we drove outside of the city, over the Golden Gate Bridge, to the other side to get some good views of it. It was pretty awesome to see the bridge with San Francisco in the  background. Additionally, we were able to get some pretty awesome shots of Alcatraz with the Golden Gate as the sun was making its way down. Definitely picturesque to hit up that park to get some nice pictures if that's what you're looking for. And it's a pretty nice walk to boot!

I started trying to work on putting up my crane entries after my leisurely airport dinner but before my boarding time. I thought I had had plenty of time to do so, but evidently not. While I certainly didn't miss my plane, I did cut it a little closer than I should've, that's for sure. Thankfully I've never missed a plane. Have you ever missed a plane? What did you do?

I like having normal seat companions when on flights. While I've certainly not done a TON of flying, I have certainly met my fair share of "special" people. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't check the credibility of at least one story from a fellow flightmate after landing. Flying, and sometimes long public transport in general, is one of those things where you feel like you can share your life story with someone (or having someone share with you as is my case) but not actually know the name of the other person. It's a big faux pas to even ask it from my experience. What do you think?

I headed off to Phoenix yesterday with a connecting flight through San Fransisco. I've never been there before, but the connection wasn't long enough to allow me to leave the airport and do some sightseeing. Someday. But I think I was able to possibly make out the Golden Gate Bridge at one point in the flight. I hope one day I'll be able to leave a crane there.
