I'm a fan of enjoying big, impressive churches. And this one was both. I ended up going in at the tail end of one of the daily masses, which apparently people can come and go as they please during. But after the mass was over, I took a little walk around the perimeter and enjoyed some of the architecture and artwork. It was very similar to some of the astounding ones I saw in Europe. Impressive is about all I can say.

Next time I am in the city and have a bit of time, I actually want to go to the MoMA. It's been a while since I've been to a proper art museum (Louvre, 5 years ago, perhaps?) and I think I'm overdue. (I have to have been to an art museum since then!) But I decided to pop into the gift shop since it was right there. Even the gift shop has some museum worthy things! Impressive. No visit to the area is complete without seeing where the Christmas tree will stand and where the ice skaters will skate when the time comes. The weather was a very crisp autumn day, great for some wanders. It seemed like a lot of other people (see: tourists like me) were also out and about for the great weather. Now I just need to get myself there during the holiday season...

Since I had taken a long weekend from work, I decided to pop up to New York City to find a dress for a Christmas party. In the past I've usually left that up to the very last minute but wanted to get a jump on it this year. So I decided to head up to the Rockefeller Plaza Center area to meet a friend for lunch. On my way was the famous Radio City Music Hall. I was tempted to take a tour but it was a bit of a wait. I was once there many years ago as a small child to see the Rockette's do their Holiday spectacular. Maybe next time I'll go for a tour.

I really enjoy when local libraries display work from local artists. It gives the library a very close-knit feel, supporting the local artists. I'm always on the look out for a nice piece of wall art and definitely saw a couple popping around to all the different groupings. Of course I don't carry nearly that much money on me when heading to the library, but definitely nice to take a look at. Unexpected art viewing is a pleasure.

One of my favorite things to do when we went to the boardwalk when I was a child, was stop into the Sweet Shop. They have an ample selection of goodies (namely fudge, which has always been my go to). I picked up Chocolate Peanut Butter, a classic, and Birthday Cake during this visit. I was tempted to pick up a candy apple or two to share but realized I could probably make my own after last weekends apple picking adventures. What sorts of goodies do you remember enjoying as a kid?

There's something about seeing an older married couple walking around places hand in hand. Perhaps it's just the assumptions we make: that they've been happily married for years upon years and are still in love. I think I'll stick to those assumptions rather than think the opposite. It's nice to think that long-lasting marriages aren't just a thing of the past. So thank you to this lovely older couple at the boardwalk!

I don't know about you guys, but I have a problem with saving things that I think are priceless. Mostly it's mementos, cards, and pictures. I've got boxes, containers and external hard-drives filled with all these priceless items. I have trouble parting with items like that.
